SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Maoming Petrochemical, a Sinopec subsidiary, has set its crude throughput target at 14.2m tonnes for 2012, unchanged from the previous year, a company source said on Tuesday.

The company runs a 13.5m tonne/year refinery at Maoming in Guangdong province.

Maoming Petrochemical plans to undertake refinery maintenance in February, August and November 2012, the source said.

It plans to conduct 20 days of maintenance at a 3m tonne/year crude distillation unit (CDU) in February, and over 20 days of maintenance at a 5m tonne/year CDU and 30 days of maintenance at a 900,000 tonne/year fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) in August, the source said.

The November maintenance will be conducted at a 450,000 tonne/year gasoil hydrogenation unit, but the source said the company has not decided on the duration yet.

Maoming Petrochemical mainly consumes high-sulphur crude from the Middle East and supplies most of its petroleum products to south and southwest China.

Its new 10m tonne/year refinery at the same site is expected to come on stream by the first quarter of 2013 at the latest, according to the source.
