SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Zhongyuan Dahua has shut its 60,000 tonne/year melamine plant at Puyang city in Henan province because of a technical issue, a company source said on Thursday.

The company, which shut the plant on 9 December, has not confirmed the restart date, the source added.

Zhongyuan Dahua operates a 30,000 tonne/year line and two 15,000 tonne/year lines at the same site.

The domestic melamine supply will be reduced as a result of the shutdown, an industry source said.

However, the prices of melamine are unlikely to rise because of weak demand ahead of the Lunar New Year, the source added.
