SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's first coal-based MEG producer Tongliao Jinmei Chemical has started selling MEG cargos to east China in December, a company source said on Thursday.

The company has increased the operating rate at its 200,000 tonne/year coal-based MEG plant in Inner Mongolia to 70-80% capacity from below 50% in late November, the source said.

This is the first time we are selling coal-based MEG to east China, which has the biggest MEG demand in China,” the source said.

Coal-based MEG was previously unable to meet the requirements in making polyester and unsaturated polyester resin (UPR), which are the main downstream products of MEG, the source said.
