FPCC shuts No 2 RFCC for maintenance, sets '12 cracker turnaround

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) shut one of its two residual fluid catalytic crackers (RFCC) in Mailiao this week for maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

He said the No 2 RFCC unit is expected to resume operations around mid-January without providing further details.

The source clarified that both RFCCs can each produce around 375,000 tonnes/year of propylene instead of 325,000 tonnes/year as previously reported.

Separately, FPCC plans to shut its 700,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker at Mailiao for a 40-45 day turnaround in August 2012.
