SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s CPC Shell Lubricants shut its 130,000 tonne/year Group I base oil plant in Kaohsiung unexpectedly on Wednesday as a result of a technical glitch, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The facility was in the process of restarting after about a month of maintenance when a technical problem led the refiner to shut the unit again, the source said.

The company is targeting to bring the plant back on line in about five days, he added.

Its second 120,000 tonne/year line on the same site is operating normally, the source said.
