HOUSTON (ICIS)--Canada’s Methanex posted on Thursday a 4-cent/gal decrease for the January North America contract price, after four months of rollovers.

The January contract price fell to $1.34/gal (€0.29/litre). The price had been $1.38/gal since August.

Methanex and Southern Chemical typically set the monthly contract price with their postings. Southern Chemical is expected to post its January price this week.

The latest spot prices for US Gulf methanol were lower than the contract price at 113–117 cents/gal FOB (free on board), as assessed by ICIS.
