SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Karamay Petrochemical, a subsidiary of PetroChina, is planning to complete the expansion of its 1m tonne/year bitumen plant at Karamay in Xinjiang province by 2014, a company source said on Tuesday.
The expansion will raise its bitumen capacity by 50% to 1.5m tonnes/year, said the source.
The company is also increasing its refining capacity by 4m tonnes/year, more than doubling its existing output to 7.5m tonnes/year, to provide feedstock for the bitumen plant, according to the source.
