LONDON (ICIS)--French producer Novapex has appointed IMCD Group its global distributor for the chemical intermediate alpha-methyl styrene (AMS), the companies said on Wednesday.

AMS is used as a building block in the manufacture of plasticisers, resins and polymers, as well as in flavours and fragrance products.

The partnership is on a worldwide basis, with a specific focus on the European market, the two firms said in a statement.

“We believe that the IMCD Group’s reputation in all relevant market sectors and their deployment of a dedicated team of technical sales executives will enhance our service offering, particularly to smaller end-users,” said Helen Webster, Novapex’s business director for solvents and derivatives.

Financial details relating to the agreement were not disclosed.

Novapex produces organic chemical products – mainly phenol, acetone, isopropanol (IPA) and other niche products. It is part of Lyon-headquartered, diversified chemical group Novacap.
