The facilities consist of a 200,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant and a 250,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant, the source said.
Honam Petrochemical will have a total capacity of 600,000 tonne/year of PP and 620,000 tonnes/year of HDPE at Yeosu when the new facilities come on stream, he said.
The company has an existing 400,000 tonne/year PP plant and a 370,000 tonne/year HDPE plant at the site.
The producer also has operations in Daesan, where it has two PP plants with a combined capacity of 550,000 tonnes/year, a 160,000 tonne/year low density PE/ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE/EVA) swing plant and a 320,000 tonne/year linear LDPE plant at Daesan, the source said.
