Ukraine's leading titanium dioxide (TiO2) producer Crimean Titanium has increased its TiO2 output in 2011 to 108,069 tonnes, up by 2% from the previous year. The figure is the company's highest annual TiO2 production so far. Crimean Titanium produces about 90% of Ukraine's total TiO2, and exports more than 70% of its output volumes. Ukraine's other major TiO2 producer is Sumykhimprom.

DECEMBER EU CHLORALKALI OUTPUT DOWN
Average European daily chlorine production in December 2011 fell to 24,462 tonnes, down by 3.3% from the previous month, while inventories of co-product caustic soda decreased to 233,029 tonnes, down by 12.6% in the same period, industry body Euro Chlor said. Year-on-year figures showed average daily chlorine production was 5.5% lower than in December 2010, while caustic soda stocks were 10,664 tonnes below the December 2010 level, at 243,693 tonnes. Chlorine capacity utilization in December was 71.3%, down from 73.7% in the previous month. There has been a steady decline since June 2011, when operating rates were 83%.

NOVEMBER CHLORINATED SOLVENTS EXPORTS UP
US November exports of chlorinated solvents increased by 80% year on year because of a global tight market and stable demand for production of refrigerant liquids, according to the US International Trade Commission. Combined exports of methylene chloride, perchloroethylene (perc) and trichloroethylene (TCE) were 21,754 tonnes, up from 12,115 tonnes for the same month in 2010. Month-on-month, total chlorinated solvent exports nearly tripled from 7,314 tonnes in October 2011.
