SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhongjia Huachen Energy Corporation plans to start up its new 120,000 tonne/year expandable polystyrene (EPS) plant at PingHu in eastern province of Zhejiang next month, a company source said on Monday.

The construction was completed in November 2011.

“We just plan to start it up later in February after the post-holiday market demand recovers,” the source said but did not give a specific date.

The company will have to buy feedstock styrene monomer (SM) from the market because it has no upstream plant of its own, the source said.

Zhongjia Huachen Energy Corporation is involved in chemical manufacturing, storage as well as trading.
