Taiwan’s FPC to shut Mailiao acrylic esters plants on 6 March

SINGAPORE--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) is planning to shut its acrylic acid (AA) and acrylic esters plants in Mailiao on 6-18 March to comply with safety checks by the country’s government officials, a company source said on Wednesday.

The company will shut its 110,000 tonne/year crude AA plant, a 60,000 tonne/year glacial AA plant, a 120,000 tonne/year butyl acrylate (butyl-A) unit and a 40,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) unit, the source said.

The source added that during the shutdown, FPC will have fewer volumes of AA and acrylic esters to supply to the spot market.
