South Korea’s Daesan MMA to shut MMA and PMMA units in March

BRISBANE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Daesan MMA is planning to shuts its 90,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant and 50,000 tonne/year downstream polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) plant in Yeosu in March for scheduled turnarounds, a company source said on Thursday.

The MMA plant will be shut for two weeks for cleaning, while the PMMA plant will be shut from the end of March to mid-April for regular maintenance, the source added.

The producer is running both plants at 80% capacity each, according to the source.

Daesan MMA is a joint venture between Japan’s Mitsubishi Rayon Co (MRC) and South Korea’s Honam Petrochemical.
