TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese chemical producer Ube Industries has recorded a 29.4% increase in its nine-month net profit to yen (Y) 19.5bn ($256m) from Y15.0bn in the same period a year earlier, partly owing to strong performance in the chemicals and resins segment.
Operating profit in the nine months to 31 December 2011 rose 14.6% to Y35.1bn from Y30.6bn in the year-before period, while net sales were up 4.1% to Y471.0bn from Y452.4bn.
Operating profit in the chemicals and resins segment during the nine months rose 64.8% to Y19.4bn year on year, while net sales were up 16.7% to Y174.1bn.
