LONDON (ICIS)--OMV has begun restarting operations at its refining and petrochemicals complex in Burghausen, Germany, following an electricity defect that caused a partial supply outage on Thursday morning, the Austrian energy and petrochemicals major said.

OMV said it expects to regain normal operations at Burghausen by Sunday 26 February. Burghausen is located east of Munich, near the border with Austria.

The outage, at 06:25 local time (05:25 GMT), forced Vienna-based OMV to shut down several production units, causing some flaring, it said.

The company did not disclose capacity or other details about the outage's impact on production.

According to ICIS, OMV’s production capacities at Burghausen include 450,000 tonne/year of ethylene, 560,000 tonnes/year of propylene and 160,000 tonnes/year of benzene.
