US Jan BD output falls by 16% year on year – consultant

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) production in January totalled 244m lb (110,700 tonnes), a 16% drop from 290m lb produced in the same month in 2011, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Wednesday.

BD production in January rose by 0.4% compared with 243m lb produced in December, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.

US crackers operated at 92.2% of capacity in January. The figure is down from 94.1% in December and 94.0 % in January 2011, the report showed.
