SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Maoming Petrochemical has ramped up the operating rates of its 200,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene/linear low density polyethylene (HDPE/LLDPE) swing plant at Maoming in south China to 70-80%, a company source said on Wednesday.

Production at the plant, which produces mainly LLDPE, will be ramped up to 100% capacity over the next few days, the company source said.

The plant was restarted on 6 March following a month-long shutdown.

The supply of LLDPE is expected to increase in south China as the plant ramps up its operating rates, a major local trader said.

The plant had completed a three-day maintenance on 2 February but its restart was delayed to 6 March because of high ethylene feedstock costs, the company source said.
