SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Technip has been awarded a front-end engineering design contract by Malaysian oil and gas major PETRONAS for its refinery and petrochemical integrated development (RAPID) project at Pengerang in the state of Johor, the French firm said on Tuesday.
The contract is expected to be completed in the second “semester” of 2013, the engineering firm said in a statement.
The proposed refinery will have a capacity of 300,000 bbl/day and will supply naphtha and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) feedstock for the petrochemical complex.
In addition, it will produce gasoline and diesel that meet European specifications, according to Technip.
PETRONAS’s RAPID project is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2016, the statement added.
The financial details of the contract were not disclosed in the statement.
