The spot cargo for loading in the first half April was sold to a trading firm at $3,400-3,420/tonne FOB (free on board) Map Tha Phut, the source said.
The results of BST’s tender translate into a price of $3,550/tonne on a cost and freight (CFR) northeast (NE) Asia basis - taking into account freight costs - indicating a rebound in BD prices, traders said.
In the week ended 9 March, BD spot prices were at $3,350-3,400/tonne CFR NE Asia, according to ICIS.
“I guess the buyers think the price has bottomed out and are starting to purchase BD again,” a trader said.
