China's Fujian Refining & Petrochemical shuts HDPE/LLDPE swing plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>China’s Fujian Refining & Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, shut its 400,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE)/linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) swing plant at Quanzhou in Fujian on Friday for scheduled maintenance, a company source said.
The maintenance will last six days from 16 March to 22 March. The plant mainly produces injection-grade HDPE, the source added.
The HDPE output loss during the shutdown is estimated to be at about 3,200 tonnes and the supply of injection-grade HDPE in south China will tighten, according to market sources.
The prices of injection-grade HDPE in south China are at CNY10,600-10,700/tonne EXWH on 16 March, up from CNY10,500-10,600/tonne EXWH on 15 March, according to local distributors.By: Rain Dong
