SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) has restarted its 140,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) line at Mailiao in Taiwan on 17-18 March, a company source said on Monday.

The company was to have restarted the plant after a month-long maintenance that began on 10 February, but the restart was delayed by bad weather, the source said.

FPC also shut another 140,000 tonne/year ACN line at the same site on 10 February, added the source.

This other plant was restarted on 10 March and  is now running at 100% capacity, according to the source.

The ACN produced by FPC is mainly used to provide feedstock for its acrylic fibre and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plants, the source added.
