China’s Fushun Petrochemical to shut paraffin wax units in June

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fushun Petrochemical, a subsidiary of PetroChina, is planning to shut its paraffin wax plants in Liaoning province for a month-long turnaround in June, a company source said on Wednesday.

The producer is running the plants, with a combined capacity of around 23,000 tonnes/month­, at 80% capacity, the source added.

The company is planning to boost the combined capacity at its two paraffin wax plants to close to 35,000 tonnes/month by the end of the year, according to the source.

Chinese paraffin wax refineries contribute approximately 70% or around 1.5m tonnes/year of the product to global supply.
