HOUSTON (ICIS)--Pandora Methanol shut down its Texas ammonia plant in Beaumont after a storage tank refrigeration compressor failed to maintain pressure, according to a Wednesday regulatory filing.
Ammonia production was shut down on Tuesday while the compressor was replaced with a spare, the company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Pandora did not immediately respond to requests for additional information.
Pandora Methanol's Beaumont plant has the capacity to produce 750,000 tonnes/year of methanol and 250,000 tonnes/year of ammonia.
Pandora is owned by Egypt’s Orascom Construction Industries (OCI).
