SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sopo started up an 800,000 tonne/year sulphuric acid unit at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province on 25 March, a company source said on Monday.

The producer built the plant as part of its expansion plans and finished building the unit at the end of last year, the source said.

The company originally planned to bring the plant on stream in December last year, but delayed it because of the weak demand in the domestic market, the source said without elaborating further.

Jiangsu Sopo is running its 350,000 tonne/year sulphuric acid unit at the same site “normally”, the source added.
