SAN ANTONIO, Texas (ICIS)-- Methanex’s Atlas methanol plant in Trinidad will go down for a planned maintenance turnaround in April, sources said on Sunday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the International Petrochemical Conference (IPC), sources said the 1.7m tonne/year plant would close for about a month, but the actual start date was unknown.

The Atlas unit was down for 40 days in January and February to fix an equipment failure from last July.

US methanol spot barge prices edged higher during the week to 114.00-114.50 cents/gal, in a fairly slow week of trading.

Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the IPC continues through Tuesday
