SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s JX Nippon Oil & Energy plans to restart its fluid catalytic cracker (FFC) in Marifu this week following an outage last month, a company source said on Monday.

The FCC, which can produce around 50,000 tonnes/year of propylene, was taken off line when the company’s 127,000 bbl/day refinery in Marifu was shut following a power outage on 26 March.

The company expects to resume propylene production at the FCC by the end of this week but will have no spot cargoes loading in April for export due to its tight balance, the source said.

Separately, JX Nippon Oil & Energy’s FCC in Mizushima remains shut and it is unclear when it will be restarted.

The FCC, which can produce 90,000 tonnes/year of propylene, was shut in January because of technical issues.

The company operates a second FCC at the same site, which can produce 100,000 tonnes/year of propylene, and is running the unit at close to 100% capacity, the source added.
