HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical's Freeport 8 cracker in Texas is back on line after a brief shutdown, the US producer said on Wednesday.

Dow had previously reported flaring from the 1.04m tonne/year unit, citing an ethylene compressor shutdown in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

"... Freeport was briefly shut down and is currently back online. There was no impact to downstream businesses and no injuries," a spokesperson said.

Dow has a second cracker in Freeport with 612,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
