LONDON (ICIS)--Six workers were injured on Friday in a small explosion at Petrom’s Petrobrazi refinery in Ploiesti near Bucharest, Romania, Austria’s state media group ORF reported.

The explosion occurred during cleaning work at a unit off the core refinery.

Operations at the refinery were not affected, ORF said, citing a spokesperson for Austria’s state energy and petrochemicals major at OMV, which controls Romania's Petrom.

Officials at OMV's headquarters in Vienna could not immediately be reached for additional comment on Friday.

According to information on its website, Petrom has two refineries - Petrobrazi and Arpechim - with a total processing capacity of 8m tonnes/year. The refineries are linked through a pipeline infrastructure.
