SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Tianjin Dagu Chemical plans to shut its 120,000 tonne/year expandable polystyrene (EPS) plant in Tianjin on 15 April for 15 days of maintenance because of a shortage of styrene monomer (SM) feedstock, a company source said on Tuesday.

The company shut its upstream 500,000 tonne/year SM plant on 2 April for 30 days of scheduled maintenance, the source said.

The shutdown at the EPS plant will not affect the company’s sales because it has ample inventory to supply to the spot market, the source added.
