HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical set to begin a planned turnaround at its phenol-acetone plant in Texas on Friday, a market source said.
US-based Dow plans to restart its Freeport plant in May following the maintenance work, the source said.
A spokesperson for Dow would not discuss the turnaround schedule, but said the procedure "is proceeding as planned and on schedule”.
The company had previously said its epoxy resins unit at the same site will also be down in April-May for maintenance.
The spokesperson said that the company has built up sufficient inventories for all chemicals affected by the turnaround.
The facility has a phenol capacity of 295,000 tonnes/year and an acetone capacity of 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone capacity, according to ICIS plants and projects.
