LAS VEGAS, Nevada (ICIS)--The price of ammonia in the US Gulf is expected to climb by $70-90/tonne (€53-68/tonne) in May from April because of more costly imports, sources said on Tuesday.
The May contract price of ammonia in the US Gulf could increase to a range of $540-560/tonne CFR (cost and freight), up from the $470/tonne CFR Tampa price in April.
PotashCorp is understood to have bought 25,000 tonnes of ammonia from Transammonia at $460/tonne FOB (free on board) Yuzhny for mid-May delivery, a source said.
The cargo is to be loaded on the vessel Eversele this week.
With freight costs estimated at about $95/tonne, the price of the cargo in the US Gulf would be in the area of $550-560/tonne CFR Tampa.
Negotiations for the May Tampa ammonia contract between Yara and its customers are expected to begin within the next week.
