HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical’s new investment, to be announced on Thursday in Texas, will add thousands of jobs to the region, the company said on Wednesday.
Dow CEO and Texas Governor Rick Perry will join in making the announcement at the company’s Freeport Complex southwest of Houston.
Dow said it will mark “an important new commitment to Houston and the US Economy”.
Dow did not provide any further details.
However, Liveris's visit follows earlier announcements in which he discussed the company's plans for a new ethane cracker.
During a US energy conference in March, Liveris said the company would reveal the site of its new cracker in April.
In February, Dow said its ethane cracker will be a brownfield project, and it would most likely build it in Texas.
At the time, Dow said it was planning to start operating the ethane cracker in 2016-2017.
