MAASTRICHT, the Netherlands ICIS)--South Korean toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) maker OCI Chemical plans to shut its 50,000 tonne/year unit in Gunsan for annual maintenance in September or October, a company source said on Thursday.
The exact shutdown date and the duration has not been fixed, the source said on the final day of the three-day Utech Europe conference and exhibition.
“The turnaround will occur during the slow season, which is a good thing,” he said on the sidelines of the meeting.
OCI Chemical exports extensively to regions such as southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America, and plans to expand market coverage to the ?xml:namespace>
TDI is a raw material to produce flexible polyurethane (PU) foams used in various applications, such as furniture and bedding.
