SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Hengli Chemical is currently running its 400,000 tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle chip facility in Wujiang at 50% of capacity after restarting in late-March, a company source said on Friday.

The facility consists of two bottle chip lines, each with 200,000 tonne/year of capacity.

The PET bottle chip lines were shut in early February this year on the back of poor margins.

“We decided to produce some bottle chips instead of all fibre chips due to the soft business conditions in the Chinese polyester market,” the source added.

Other major Chinese PET producers include Jiangsu Sanfangxiang and China Resources.
