SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Honam Petrochemical plans to shut its 1m tonne/year naphtha cracker in Daesan for a week of repairs on 4 or 5 May, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The company has been running the plant at 90% of capacity since late March because of mechanical problems related to the cooling unit, the source said.

Market sources said Honam may be in talks to buy some ethylene spot cargoes for May arrival but details were not available.
