HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonate (PC) spot prices increased by 9 cents/lb ($198/tonne, €151/tonne) in April, sources said on Wednesday.
Two out of three producers were successful in 90% of the price increases they sought in April, sources said.
The increases moved general purpose (GP) moulding and extrusion PC grades to $1.68-2.00/lb in bulk and $1.73-$2.05/lb for the same material in package grade from $1.68-1.91/lb and $1.73-1.96./lb, respectively, in March.
SABIC Performance Materials and Bayer MaterialScience had each sought price increases of 10 cents/lb, citing increased costs of feedstocks.
The third US PC producer, Styron, did not propose a price increase for April.
None of the producers have announced a price increase for May in the Americas.
One buyer said it anticipates an increase proposal to be announced in May.
