SINGAPORE (ICIS)—China’s Henan Kaixiang Chemical is running its 45,000 tonne/year butanediol (BDO) plant in Henan province at an operating rate of 30%-40%, after starting it up around 29-30 April, a company source said on Monday.

It is running its other plant with the same capacity at the same site at 100% after starting it up in August 2011, the source added.

BDO is used industrially as a solvent and in the manufacture of some types of plastics, elastic fibres and polyurethanes (PU).
