SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PetroChina has shut its 10m tonne/year bitumen plant at Karamay in China’s Xinjiang autonomous region for a 40-day turnaround, a company source said on Friday.

The plant was taken off line on 10 May, but the company can use up its inventory to continue supplying to customers this month, the source said.

In June, however, supply will be limited, he said.

Northwest China’s bitumen supply is esimated to fall by 38% in May compared with April because of the turnaround, according to C1 Energy, an ICIS service in China.
