HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical’s electronic business unit has acquired research firm Lightscape Materials for an undisclosed sum to further strengthen its light emitting diodes (LED) portfolio, the ?xml:namespace>
Lightscape Materials is a New Jersey-based research company that holds intellectual property in specialty phosphor technology.
The investment will allow Dow to add phosphor technology to its existing LED technologies portfolio, it said.
“The novel phosphor compositions developed by Lightscape Materials enable improved quality, reliability and output colour of LED light-based systems,” said Leo Linehan, global general manager for Dow Electronic Materials' growth technologies business.
“We look forward to helping customers incorporate these advanced phosphors into their processes, while providing the local service, support and supply they have come to expect from Dow,” Linehan added
Dow bought Lightscape Materials' from a group of investors that included South Korean firm Wisepower and US-based SRI International.
