SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Mitsubishi Chemical Polycarbonate (Beijing) plans to start up its two 30,000 tonne/year polycarbonate (PC) plants in the coming weeks, a company source said on Thursday.

The company plans to start test runs at one of the PC units at Yanshan, Beijing, in late May. The second PC plant is expected to start up in the middle of June, the source said.

The company operates a 150,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) unit, which supplies feedstock to its own PC units. The BPA unit in Beijing is currently running at 90% of capacity, the source said.

Sinopec Mitsubishi Chemical Polycarbonate (Beijing) is a joint venture between Chinese major Sinopec and Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Engineering Plastics.
