KUALA LUMPUR (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>Taiwan’s Tuntex Petrochemical plans to restart its 440,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit on 23 May after two weeks of planned maintenance, a company source said on Friday.
The plant, located at Taoyuan, was shut on 7 May, the source said at the sidelines of the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“We had some talks to extend the shutdown because of the poor market conditions, but decided to stick to the original plan as we need to fulfil our commitment to contracted customers,” the source said.
Other PTA producers in Taiwan include China American Petrochemical Co (CAPCO), Oriental Petrochemical and Formosa Chemical Fibre Corp (FCFC).
