KUALA LUMPUR (ICIS)--Thailand-based Indorama Ventures Ltd (IVL) plans to start up its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) expansion in Rotterdman, the Netherlands, in July, a senior executive said on Friday.

“Our brownfield 200,000 tonne/year expansion will come on in July,” said D.K. Agarwal, CEO of Indorama Polymers, an IVL subsidiary.

He spoke to ICIS on the sidelines of the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) in Kuala Lumpur.

The expansion will double capacity at the site to 400,000 tonnes/year.

On 3 May, ICIS reported that Indorama will delay the completion of its Rotterdam expansion until June to July, or later in the third quarter, citing a company source.

The global PET market has been hit by falling prices since March.
