US BD output in April falls 17% year on year - consultant

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) production in April totalled 217m lb (98,430 tonnes), a 17% drop from 261m lb produced in the same month in 2011, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Monday.

However, BD production in April rose nearly 2% by volume from 213m lb in March, while climbing by 4.9% against that month if measured on a daily rate, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.

US crackers operated at 84.7% of capacity in April. The figure is up from 84.6% in March, but down from 88.8 % in April 2011, the report showed.
