SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China key oxo-alochols producer Jilin Petrochemical has shut its 120,000 tonne/year n-butanol (NBA) plant and a 120,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant in Jilin province on 28 May for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday .

The producer plans to restart the two plants around 24 June, the source said.

The shutdown of the plant is likely to cause the prices to become stable-to-firm as it will tighten NBA and 2-EH supply in the domestic market, a market player said.

Prices of NBA and 2-EH in the domestic market have been on a decline on weak downstream demand, another market player said.

Spot prices of NBA in east China were at yuan (CNY) 10,150-10,200/tonne ($1,598-1,606/tonne) ex-tank on 29 May, down by CNY1,000/tonne from 7 May, according to data from Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

Prices of 2-EH in east China were at CNY11,650-11,700/tonne ex-tank on 29 May, down by CNY1,000/tonne from 19 April, the data showed.
