SINGAPORE (ICIS)--SABIC’s innovative plastics business said on Wednesday that the company will open a state-of-the-art Lexan multiwall polycarbonate (PC) sheet production line at its Vadodara manufacturing facility in India.

This new line will help to meet rising demand in the region for SABIC’s Lexan Thermoclear multiwall PC sheet products for use in the building and greenhouse sectors, the company said in a statement.

The company declined to disclose the capacity of the production line, construction timeline and start-up date when contacted by ICIS.

India’s vibrant economy is achieving 7-9% growth per year, driven by extensive infrastructure investment and development, especially in the commercial and industrial roofing sectors, such as stations, malls and hospitals, according to the statement.

The new line at Vadodara will produce high-quality two-sided ultraviolet (UV)-protected Lexan Thermoclear multiwall sheet in clear and custom colors for roofing, glazing and cladding applications.
