TORONTO (ICIS)--A small fire was quickly extinguished on Wednesday at ExxonMobil’s Canadian Imperial Oil refining and petrochemicals site in Sarnia in southern Ontario, a refinery spokesman said.

The fire did not affect production at the 121,000 bbl/refinery, cracker and downstream chemical plants, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said there was a "small fire, at around 9:35 [hours local time, 1:35 hours GMT], put out immediately, far away from our manufacturing operations; production not affected, everything running smoothly".

There were no injuries and the cause is being investigated by Imperial Oil, according to Sarnia-Lambton NetAlert.
