HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical shut down a reactor at its adhesive polymers plant in Freeport, Texas, following a release of ethylene, the comany said in a regulatory filing on Friday.
The process control computer shut down the process and vented the reactor to prevent catastrophic damage to personnel and equipment, the company said in a Friday filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
It was not clear whether the unit had been restarted, or whether there was any lost production at the plant. A company spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
