SINGAPORE (ICIS)--GAIL India is currently running its cracker and polyethylene (PE) facilities at Pata in Uttar Pradesh at around 90% of capacity, a company source said on Wednesday.

The entire Pata petrochemical complex was taken off line on 24 May because of technical issues at the 210,000 high density PE (HDPE)/linear low density PE (LLDPE) swing plant at the site.

The company’s cracker with a 500,000 tonne/year ethylene capacity was restarted on 31 May, while the two 100,000 tonne/year HDPE plants and the HDPE/LLDPE swing unit at the site resumed operations on 2 June.

“New LLDPE and HDPE products are coming out from the facilities after the [unplanned] shutdown. Our sales volume should improve in [the] near term,” the source said.

“Both the cracker and the PE units should ramp up within the next few days to 100%,” he said.
