SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) plans to shut its 400,000 tonne/year I-4 No 2 ethane cracker at Map Ta Phut for maintenance in the second half of June because of technical issues, a company source said on Thursday.

The cracker is currently running at 100% capacity but is expected to be taken off line later this month for inspection checks, the source said, adding that this was not a planned shutdown.

The same cracker was earlier shut for a turnaround from 18 February to 29 March.

PTTGC operates three other crackers at Map Ta Phut with a combined ethylene nameplate capacity of 1.98 m tonnes/year.
