US ammonia imports down by 4% in April month on month

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ammonia imports in April were down by 4% from March, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.

US ammonia imports fell to 500,934 tonnes in April from 522,621 tonnes in March.

Imports fell in April as no ammonia was brought in from Russia, Ukraine or Venezuela for the second straight month.

April imports also fell from 588,339 tonnes in the same month of 2011.

Trinidad and Tobago at 342,718 tonnes was the major source of US ammonia imports, followed by Canada at 105,971 tonnes, Saudi Arabia at 39,924 tonnes and Indonesia at 12,037 tonnes.

Korea at 284 tonnes was the only other source of ammonia imports in April.
